Thanks for bringing this subject up to your readers and bringing attention to one small piece of a much larger and dangerous situation which is the federal government's agressive attack on state rights and individual liberty. Of course, this is a bad idea but the federal government does not seem to be deterred by ad ideas, proven failures or even the law of the land. In private enterprise, when something fails, you stop doing it. In government, when something fails, you make it more complicated and spend expotentially more money on it.

If you haven't noticed, there is a regulation in place or being prosposed for every aspect of not only the way you conduct your business, but also the way you live your life. Most of these regulations are put forth by a "department of whatever", an executive directive or at the whim of a "czar".

I urge anyone reading this to wake up, reach out to wake up you associates, employees, friends, family and anyone else still asleep and start fighting back.

Barbara,

Are you serious?

Why would the Federal Reserve propose such an idea other than to have such information so as to be able to collect such lien debts and take real property from U.S. citizens for payment of the National Debt.

The paper work alone would burden the government for many years and place us all under the ultimate control of Big Brother (the Federal government).

An idiotic idea for the exact reason stated. I have fun googling my name to see what I've done lately. I'm an Olympic Kayaker, artist, singer, cop, and county commissioner just to name a few. No mention of that title guy :( Just imagine searching Jim Smith in a national database. I used to break down in tears when I had to run a name like that in just Duval County :)

1984 was almost 30 years ago. This is another Orwellian concept that needs to be relegated to history -- just as 1984 has now become.

I have to agree with all of the foregoing. Real property is inherently a local issue. But as we have seen in other issues, the abilty of the federal government to usurp the power of state governments will only continue to grow in the current environment.

Just another attempt to chip away at states' rights and federalize everything. And as we know, the gov't is Sooooo great at managing entities. Like the Post Office, Fannie, Freddie, the car industry- (how much are those Volts-on-Fire? 80K? For a Chevy?).
And not even the federal government has any meaningful control over the Fed. So "NO" would be the correct answer.
Past behaviors/failures are an excellent indicator of future ones.

Let the government get involved it costs a lot of money and does not work well. Let the Federal Government get involved and it is a financial and operational disaster that would probably eliminate some rights we have for the public good.
